Emsisoft Anti-Malware has now taken the lead of the overall ranking for antivirus and antimalware programs in 2011 and therefore shows its enormous strength in the protection against new online threats. This is achieved by using the following three security layers:

• Surf protection which blocks the access to known malicious websites
• Dual-engine file guard with more than 5 million signatures of known malware
• Behavior blocker for zero-day malware nobdody was able to analyze yet

The second video was created by winsevenholic who has done a lot of security reviews aswell. Accompanied by hard techno sounds he also visits various malware links with Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6 being active. He finally recommends Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6, because there was almost no impact on system resources with very fast updates plus scans and both great malware prevention and detection.

The result of the review:

Pros: Comprehensive and advanced firewall protection with a lot of additional security features but easy to use for even if you aren’t PC expert. Banking Online Mode is unique and very useful. It’s even more than a firewall program in comparison with others.

The detection results for Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5.1 are stunning:

With a total detection rate of 98.4% across all categories and 99.7% in the special Backdoors/Bots category it would have ranked place 3 of 22 world class antivirus products, and qualifying for the Antivirus Standard logo.

The tests were based on a Windows 7 32 Ultimate virtual machine with all updates, of course every single application got its own VM. Samples came directly from MRG honeypots and were then uploaded to a certain URL so that it could be downloaded to the VM by using Internet Explorer.

Once again Emsisoft Anti-Malware was able to proof its great detection rate together with Defense Wall V3. It is very interesting that well established programs like Kaspersky Antivirus 2011, AVG Antivirus or Avira Antivir Premium show strong weaknesses in detecting current threats. Virus Bulletin tests all kinds of anti virus programs multiple times a year as a neutral authority. The probands have to detect unexceptional all samples of a wild list and may not give a single false alert while scanning about 400.000 normal files. Therefore the VB100 Award is a decoration that is very hard to obtain and so only a few first-class security tools receive it.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5.0 achieved 98/100 points and therefore a ”very good“. Only for performance and usablity there was a single point discount. For this reason the Austrian tool received the best outcome at all on this website.

Within the brackets you can see how many programs passed or failed the detection test. As all malware files were the latest variants with a severe risk level the result is really harrowing. Even known and established tools like Kaspersky, Gdata or Norton were not able to detect all samples. Just one single program was able to stop 100% of the threats: Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

He visits some suspicious websites and downloads several files to test the security level of the firewall including the “RunSafer” function. As this procedure can be considered as a normal usage scenario, it proves the effectivity of Online Armor ++.

The testing criteria to achieve the treasured VB100 certificate belong to the hardest worldwide. Exactly 100% of the up to date wildlist Malware files (right now 9.118 samples) have to be detected and not a single false alert may occur while scanning about 400.000 normal files.

In the test of August 2010 Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5.0 got its first VB100 ever!

Excerpt of the test details:  ”In the infected sets, scores were truly splendid across the board.”

The 500 samples strong first set’s winner is Emsisoft Anti-Malware with a clean 100% detection – just Avira was able to detect all the threats aswell, while all the other products detected 9x% or even less.

Obviously the 5000 samples strong set 2 was more difficult for the security programs, as none was able to detect 100% here. But again Emsisoft Anti-Malware achieved the best result with 99.72%, in front of Avira Premium (99.22%), Twister (99%) and Kaspersky (98.48%). Surprisingly some very well known programs showed really bad performances like Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (3%) or Ad-Aware (58.44%).

As test systems a freshly installed Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and all updates was used. With cloned images including Internet access every program got its own seperate Windows with all real time protection features being enabled and of course the lates updates. A folder containing 1000 different Trojans, Backdoors, Worms, Rogues, Spyware and Viruses then was scanned by right clicking it. Those samples had a maximum age of one month.

For the infected system rescue test again Windows Xp with Service Pack 3 was used. The tested programs were installed with standard options and deactivated real time protection here. Then 15 malware samples were executed individually, with the system being rebooted after each execution, until all fifteen samples had been executed. Now the system was scanned with each program. The result of the detection / cleaning rate could be measured by differences between snapshots of the according images..
